Venice has played host to a roll-call of major movie stars in recent days as its annual film festival got into full swing. A football player and his stylish wife stole the show from their silver screen peers on Thursday, however, after David and Victoria Beckham arrived into town.

The glamorous couple, who were in the city to launch their new 'his and hers' fragrances, both lived up to their trend-setting reputations when they arrived for the event. Becks went for a peasant chic look with an oversize flatcap to complement his loose denims jeans, hobnail boots and waistcoast, while his leading lady was a little more polished in a beige Miu Miu creation priced at £900. Later on, when they headed out for a night on the town, the loved-up pair were both looking rather more glam, with him in a sharp black suit and her in a strapless cocktail dress.

Earlier in the week David provoked a storm of media attention when he misunderstood a Spanish journalist's question and indicated he and his wife were expecting another baby, but on Thursday afternoon Victoria laughed off the reports. "I'm definitely not pregnant – despite what has been said by a certain individual," she joked.

The former Spice Girl did confirm they were planning to enlarge their brood some time in the future, though. "People keep asking when I'm going to have the next one but it's tricky having three young boys," she explained. "I'm thinking next year would be a good time to try - I would like another one."
