While Canadian songbird Nelly Furtado's new album Loose has taken flight, so too has the gorgeous mum of one. The album's popularity has turned the chanteuse into something of a globe trotter, with Cologne, Germany, just one of the latest stops on her packed itinerary.
At the moment the British Columbia-born singer is savouring the sweet taste of success on both sides of the Atlantic. Her album is currently topping the charts in both Germany - where she was appearing on a local TV programme - and the US, where it has already turned gold. Fans in her Canadian homeland, meanwhile, have snapped up copies of the new oeuvre, taking it platinum there as well as in Switzerland.
Riding high on the back of the album's success, Nelly has an especially busy agenda at the moment. No sooner was her German visit over than the Grammy winner jumped a plane back to the Big Apple to promote Loose on a morning TV show. Her continent-hopping falls hot on the heels of last week's American Music Award nod for favourite female artist.
While there's no doubt the latest album is her biggest success to date, the 27-year-old music star admits the enthusiasm with which it has been greeted is not entirely unexpected. Prior to its release, she predicted the "punk hop" collection, as she dubs it, was "going to have the biggest reaction of all my albums".
