In his capacity as a Diana Award ambassador, Robin Gibb has helped recognise the efforts of young role models who have gone out of their way to improve the lives of others.

The Bee Gees musician, who's made headlines lately with the complexities of his personal life, attended a Downing Street reception for five recipients of the accolade, which was set up in memory of the Princess of Wales. Joining Robin at Number 11 to congratulate the four school children and a 19-year-old fundraising author was the Seventies music icon's wife of 23 years, Dwina Gibb.

At the event the Stayin' Alive singer was asked about reports the couple's former housekeeper had given birth to his child. "New life is heaven-sent and is a blessing," was his response. "That's what I can say about children and life in answer to your question."
