Beaming Kate Silverton proudly displayed her baby bump in a tight-fitting dress on BBC Breakfast this week. The 40-year-old presenter is five months pregnant with her first child, conceived naturally after several failed IVF attempts.Kate's joy at impending motherhood was obvious.
She tenderly patted her bump while chatting to her co-anchor and guests on the show. And despite her 3am start, the 'extremely excited' mum-to-be was absolutely glowing – standing her in good stead for early mornings once the baby arrives.Announcing her happy news in May, Kate – who wed security expert Mike Heron in December – admitted the couple had "given up all hope of having a family after years of trying".She described her pregnancy as "a minor miracle" and a "wonderful surprise".
"We feel very blessed and extremely excited," she said.Earlier this month, Kate spoke out about her decision to share her pregnancy happiness. "I would not have revealed it publically except people had begun asking questions and it's obvious I had gained weight, especially on screen," she told the Mail.
"I'd had some symptoms that I now recognise as early pregnancy signs – a craving for bacon sandwiches, a swollen tummy and two rather short 'cycles – but I assumed it was the onset of an early menopause.""When I saw the second blue line appear on the test I couldn't believe it. I had to do another before I even entertained the idea that I might be pregnant."
