Less than a week later, they revealed they were expecting a daughter.
The new arrival is due in about two months.
And nothing is going to keep Robbie from sharing that life-changing moment.
He has turned down the chance to appear in the Olympics closing ceremony because it falls around his wife's due date.
A spokesperson for the star confirmed to the Daily Mail that he will not be appearing at the event on August 12.
"There were initial discussions, but he just can't do it because his wife is about to give birth," he said.
According to the Mirror, Robbie was said to have been given a high-profile slot to perform David Bowie’s 1971 hit Life on Mars.
It was recently claimed that the soon-to-be parents are contemplating naming their little girl Roberta, after her famous father, and that they also like Alice and Geneveive.
