"I love her with all my heart," he added as a ripple of applause spread around his peers in the auditorium. The homage was well earned for French production designer Eve Mavrakis, whom Ewan met on the set of TV law drama Kavanagh QC.  She tamed the Scottish thespian, who admitted to not knowing what kind of woman he wanted to be with until he met the striking brunette.

"I knew right then that I really wanted to be with her and I knew I wanted to be with her in a different way to all the other many, many, many women I had been with up until that point. And I wasn't wrong. I made the right choice," he said during a chat with Graham Norton.Almost immediately after completing filming Trainspotting in 1995, Ewan made things official. Since then, Eve has become mother to their four daughters, happily supported his back-to-back film projects and welcomed him with open arms after his numerous jaunts around the world on the back of his BMW motorbike.
