Mel C scooped the Celebrity Mum of the Year Award at London's Savoy Hotel on Sunday. The former Spice Girl is a proud mum to four-year-old Scarlet. After the event she tweeted, "Completely humbled and inspired to meet all the winners of the #TescoMumoftheyear awards today. Watch on Channel 5 next Sunday. #girlpower"

The 39-year-old said she was "really chuffed" to have won and smiled as she posed for photographers on the red carpet alongside her own mum, Joan O'Neill. The Scouse songstress was chic in a cream and black dress which she accessorised with a sparkly grey shoe boots and a monochrome clutch. Mel's mum Joan also opted for neutrals with a sheer sequin-detail dress with wedge sandals. Mel will head to Australia later this year to tour with Jesus Christ Superstar before returning to the UK for an arena tour in October. She stars as Mary Magdalene alongside Tim Minchin. Ahead of her time spent apart from her daughter Scarlet she said, "It brings a whole new set of problems with the jigsaw puzzle of childcare and the guilt you feel from being away. "So that's interesting and it's something you're constantly working on, getting the balance right." Scarlett is Mel's daughter from her 10-year relationship with the property developer Thomas Starr. They met while on holiday in Barbados in 2002 and split in July 2012. Although Mel C was the talk of the event, other celebrity mums in attendance included pregnant Danielle O'Hara and former Liberty X member Michelle Heaton. X-Factor finalist Rylan Clark also made an appearance and confessed to being "one million per cent a mummy's boy". The programme will be aired on Channel 5 on Mother's Day.
