Charlize Theron: 'I do not have a perfect body'

Charlize Theron has opened up about her body image, and revealed that she still has certain hang-ups.

The svelte actress, who is about to celebrate her 40th birthday, was speaking to Modern Luxury magazine as their September cover girl.

"I do not have a perfect body," said Charlize. "I'm always finding things I can work on, but I definitely have reached a point where I feel comfortable and happy with the way my body looks."

The Monster star added that while she allows herself to enjoy food, she is "mindful" of what she eats and knows to be good to herself.

Apart from practising yoga and spinning, Charlize maintains her trim figure by enjoying early morning hikes with her mother – and it seems the fashion model is keen to pass on her healthy habits to her two-year-old son who she adopted in 2012.

"There is a great trail around the corner from my house," she said. "So I go with Jackson and the dogs."

The South African, who has been dating actor Sean Penn for nearly a year, also spoke about the relationship between men and women.

"These days women are doing any-and everything, and men are realizing that women are able to do everything they can do," said Charlize. "I think at the end of the day, we should be supporting one another, building each other up. We need each other."

The couple, who have known each other for almost two decades, didn't go public with their romance until New Year's Eve last year, when they were spotted on holiday in Hawaii.

Speaking about her relationship, Charlize has said in the past that it was "somewhat effortless" and that those close to her could see the positive effect Sean had on her.

It seems the actor and director has had no trouble in bonding with Charlize's little boy, as the trio are almost inseparable and Jackson is never too far from the lovebirds.

"I've always known I wanted a family," Charlize has previously said, before joking, "I don't think my mum could wait any more!"
