Waterloo Road star Lynsey Pow died following drug and gambling issues

Waterloo Road actress Lynsey Pow died after battling with drug and gambling problems, and inquest has heard. Lynsey, who was 34 when she died on 28 November 2013, told a GP she "felt like a failure" in the run up to her death.

The TV star's body was found at her flat in Honor Oak Park near some open bank statements.

Assistant Coroner Sarah Ormond-Walshe said the verdict concluded that although Lynsey hanged herself and left a note, drugs found in her system meant that it could not be proven she intended to take her own life.

"[Ms Pow] appeared to have obtained some cocaine and while under the influence of cocaine she appeared to hang herself," she said. "It is likely to have influenced her mind so it cannot be said that she intended to die.

"I am recording this as a drug-related self-harm death."

Scotland-born Lynsey, whose other small-screen credits included Doctors and Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, was married to sports presenter and former Fame Academy contestant Ashley House.
