Jake Quickenden has declined an offer from football club Gainsborough Trinity. The former X Factor contestant, who was runner up to superbike champion Carl Foggarty in 2014's series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, has turned down the Lincolnshire team's offer in favour of focussing on his music and presenting roles.

"After being approached by Gainsborough Trinity Jake has politely declined their offer," the 26-year-old's representatives said in a statement. "I can confirm however that Jake has been approached by other football clubs and his management are in talks with them. Right now his focus is on his music and presenting."

Jake, who was a youth-team player with his hometown club Scunthorpe United, has previously played for non-league clubs including Frickley Athletic and Bottesford Town.

"He's a talented footballer," Trinity boss Steve Housham said of Jake on BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"It's not like he's someone who's not kicked a ball before."The chairman is an ambitious guy and wants to get him down for a game," he added. "There are still a lot of dealings to go through, but it could be a case of getting him down before the end of the season." Possibly alluding to his footballing career, Jake jokingly tweeted: "I think Barcelona are interested aswell. "Gainsborough are currently 15th in the Conference North Table, five steps below the Premier League. Jake could get some tips on improving his game from friend and fellow I'm A Celebrity... contestant Jimmy Bullard who played for teams including West Ham, Wigan and Fulham.
