Halle Berry has spoken out for the first time since announcing her split from husband Olivier Martinez. Speaking about the break-up with Extra, the Catwoman star has said she is "doing okay" following the separation.

''I'm doing okay, I really am. I keep pushing and I'm really happy to be here," said the actress adding: "Because whenever you're going through anything in life, when you step outside yourself and focus on others, that's always the best remedy for any situation that you'd rather not be dealing with."

Despite revealing the sad news just two weeks ago, the 49-year-old insisted that life must go on and continue as usual especially for the children. "Maceo didn't go trick-or-treating 'cause he has the chicken pox, Nahla was a zombie cheerleader, and we had a great time."

Following the interview Halle attended the launch for videogame Fallout 4 on Friday, with model Chrissy Teigen. The mother was chic in an all-black ensemble with lace up over-the-knee leather boots.

Halle met Olivier in 2010 when they both starred in the film Dark Tide. Two years later the French actor proposed with a large emerald ring. The couple got married in an intimate wedding in France the following year when the actress was six months pregnant with their son.

At the end of October the pair announced that it was with a "heavy heart" that they were calling time on their relationship, adding: "We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son."

According to People magazine, Halle and Olivier will be seeking joint custody of their son. The former Bond girl has asked that they share the costs of raising their son and that her estranged husband ask for permission to take their child out of California.
