Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has said she is "honoured" to be named the recipient of The Global Gift Philanthropist Award at the 7th annual Global Gift Gala. The 32-year-old will be presented with the award by honorary chair Eva Longoria on 9 May, in recognition of her charity Cheryl's Trust.
The Promise This singer established the charity in 2015 to support the needs of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, and over the next two years the Trust will focus on improving the lives of people in the North East of England – where Cheryl grew up.

"I am honoured to be this year's recipient of the Global Gift Gala Philanthropist Award," Cheryl said as the news was announced. "I'm proud of where I grew up but I'm only too aware of the challenges that young people face. I want to give back and help young people who feel like they'll never achieve anything reach their dreams and live a happy life."
Meanwhile Eva said she is "absolutely thrilled" to be returning to Paris for the prestigious awards, which help to raise funds for philanthropic events worldwide. The actress' own charity The Eva Longoria Foundation, which focuses on women's education and entrepreneurship, will also benefit from the gala.

Another famous face set to be honoured at the awards is Ronan Keating. The Irish singer will be honoured with The Global Gift Excellence Award in recognition of his work with the Marie Keating Foundation.
Their commitment to philanthropy is not the only thing Cheryl and Eva have in common; the pair are also brand ambassadors for L'Oreal, and have previously joined forces to promote the beauty brand at Cannes festival, where they joked that they looked so alike they could be twins.
"Me and my twin sister @CherylCole at Cannes!" Eva captioned a photo from their first meeting, prompting Cheryl to reply: "It was like looking at a prettier reflection, ha!"
