Little Mix were overjoyed after winning the Best British Single award at the Brits for their song Shout Out To My Ex, and cheekily thanked all of their ex-boyfriends for helping with their success. Taking to the stage, Jade Thirlwall thanked the crowd while revealing the group's surprise at winning the coveted award, for which Zayn's debut solo single, Pillowtalk, was also nominated. "Thank you very much," she said. "We didn't think we were going to get it, we were just sitting chin-wagging."
The group thanked their ex-boyfriends
She continued: "We'd like to thank our team. The label, Sony, Simon, our management…and us girls because if it wasn't for our friendship, we wouldn't still be going. And lastly, cheers for our exes for helping us to make an amazing song. This is for you lads!" The girls also wowed at the awards show with their opening number, and fans including Niall Horan congratulated them on their success. The One Direction band member tweeted: "MASSIVE congrats to @LittleMix. Every time there's a chance to kill a live performance, they do it. Also congratulations on your first Brit." Another fan cheekily added: "Little Mix beating Zayn with Shout Out to My Ex is art. I want this moment bottled up so I can have sips of it in the future.
Thanking fans for their support following the awards show, Little Mix tweeted: "What an incredible night. A massive thank you to EVERYONE who has supported us. We [love] each & every one of you. x the girls #LittleMixBRITs." Jesy Nelson added a sweet tribute to her fellow band mates, writing: "I literally have no flippin words for this moment right here! All I can say is I love these girls more than anyone or anything in the world… I cannot believe I got to achieve my dream with them."
