Michelle Obama pens heartfelt letter to Lily Collins

Despite saying goodbye to her role as First Lady, Michelle Obama is still making sure she spreads her kindness. The 53-year-old took the time out of her busy schedule to pen Hollywood actress Lily Collins a heartfelt letter in which she thanked the actress for sending her a copy of her new book, entitled Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me. The 28-year-old immediately took to her social media pages to share a picture of the beautiful note.

In the caption, Phil Collins' daughter gushed: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart Michelle Obama for your encouragement and support. You have no idea how much this means to me. And that Wonder Woman stamp is everything. You truly are such an incredible inspiration. I'll definitely be framing these! #Unfiltered..." Michelle told Lily that she looked forward to sharing the memoir with her daughters Malia, 18, and Sasha, 15.

"I am writing to thank you for the copy of your new book. The gift was such a nice gesture and I look forward to sharing it with my daughters," wrote the former First Lady began. "The outpouring of support I have received from women across the country continues to amaze me and I am filled with a great sense of hope for our shared future. I heard this quote recently and it reminded me of your book so I wanted to share it with you. 'Here's to strong women, may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.'" She ended the lovely note with the words: "Again thank you for your kindness Lily. I wish you all the best.'"

Earlier this year, Lily - who is famed for her roles in Mirror Mirror and Love, Rosie - opened up about her secret battle with an eating disorder, and in her book she claimed the insecurities stemmed from her famous father, musician Phil Collins. The Hollywood beauty penned a heartfelt open letter to her him, claiming she "forgives" the singing legend for not being the father she "expected" him to be. She wrote: "I forgive you for not always being there when I needed and for not being the dad I expected. I forgive the mistakes you made. And although it may seem like it's too late, it's not. There's still so much time to move forward."
