Following what was previously a highly-anticipated – though subsequent disaster – headlining performance at 2023 Coachella, Frank Ocean has canceled his show at the festival's second weekend.

The "Super Rich Kids" singer – whose last album was 2016's Blond, exacerbating anticipation for his Coachella performance –  came under scrutiny after his long-awaited return to the stage, his first public performance since 2017.

He last released new music in 2020 including, "Dear April" and "Cayendo," produced alongside Daniel Aged.

However, fans who eagerly waited six years for his comeback and spent hours in line to secure a spot at the front of the crowd, and later on, another hour because the musician started late, fans were left disappointed, and their dissatisfaction was soon voiced through a wave of criticism on social media.

First, ahead of the show, it was announced that Frank's set would not be livestreamed on the official Coachella YouTube channel, as was previously planned.

When he finally made it onto the stage, it was 11pm PT, an hour after he was scheduled to do so, which left him only an hour to perform before the show got cut short due to the strict midnight curfew on Sundays that Coachella must abide by.

Once he was actually on, and reportedly without his scheduled performers who were waiting for their chance to hit the stage, and last-minute change requests, fans couldn't actually see Frank, because he was covered by scaffolding.

Additionally, later on, he let the studio versions of his songs play from the speakers instead, while he roamed around the stage.

Now, reps for him have shared with Rolling Stone that the abrupt delay, changes, and baffling show that followed was due to an ankle injury Frank suffered ahead of the show, two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.

His doctor has now advised him not to take the stage again, and in a statement provided via his rep, he said: "It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn't what I intended to show but I enjoy being out there and I'll see you soon." Variety reports that Blink-182 will perform in his place.
