The bizarre hidden rooms A-listers request when building their mega-estates

Lady Gaga bought her Malibu mansion in 2014 from Dan Romanelli, who was the head of Warner Bros.' consumer products division, so it comes as no surprise that the home features everything from a Batcave to a bowling alley.

Gaga's Batcave can only be accessed through a secret passageway hidden in the living room, and the cave is more like a recreational area for guests to play arcade games and go bowling. 

The Batcave also reportedly features a wine cellar and a movie theatre, and was inspired by Dan's work with Warner Bros. 

"Batman was something that really helped build my division," he told The Wall Street Journal. The home, which Gaga lovingly calls her "Gypsy Palace", is now worth £16.7 million and is still her primary residence.

When the iconic rapper lived in Beverly Hills, he didn't have to go very far if he wanted to party; in fact, he only had to head down to his personal nightclub to dance the night away. 

Big Sean gave Architectural Digest a tour of his Beverly Hills mansion, and revealed that the home's previous owner, Slash, had built the hidden room before he purchased it in 2017.

"I didn't really change the design of it. It was kinda always like this," Sean told the outlet.

The star later shared on Cribs that he had no plans to close down the nightclub. 

"When I bought the house, Slash had this whole club down here, and they were like, ‘You can turn this into whatever you want.' I’m like, bro, you f****** kidding me? This is Slash’s club!" he exclaimed. 

Sean sold the home in 2021 for £8.8 million, with the fate of the nightclub unknown.  

Cara Delevingne is not afraid of her raunchier side, and her custom-built tunnel and hidden room are proof of that. 

The supermodel showed AD around her Los Angeles home, which features a "vagina tunnel" and a room she dubbed the "Pussy Palace".

"I come in here to think, I come in here to create. I come in here to feel inspired," Cara told the outlet, as she showcased the pink carpeted walls and mirrored ceiling. 

Guests can crawl through the tunnel, which begins with a "vulval soft sculpture", and crawl out of a washing machine-style door at the other end.

She worked with architect Nicolò Bini to bring her ideas to life, and wanted to inject a feeling of whimsy into the place. 

"The meaning I have from this house is you just never grow up," she said. "Always kind of maintain some sort of childlike innocence, or joy, or just the need for fun."

The Broadway star's former Harlem home was relatively normal in comparison to some on this list, but one unique feature made it stand out: the Monkey Bar. 

In the first-floor parlour of his brownstone home, Neil had a bar that saw taxidermy monkeys posed on top to recreate the "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" proverb. 

The actor and his husband, David Burtka, sold the house in 2022 for £5.2 million.

RuPaul's vibrant Beverly Hills home would not be complete without an entire room dedicated to disco balls. 

The Drag Race icon's room features 26 disco balls hanging from the room, as well as black and white portraits of disco icons that "inspire" him, as he told AD.

"We love music, we love to dance. We decided we needed to have a disco in our house, and this is it," RuPaul explained. 

"It just makes me happy, and if you can't be happy in your own home, how the hell [are] you gonna be happy anywhere else?"

The powerhouse singer designed a psychedelic-inspired room inside her Studio City home in Los Angeles, which she lovingly dubbed the "Shroom Room". 

The private room features brightly-coloured modular seating, shimmering silver curtains, a chaotic patterned ceiling and the pièce de résistance, a colour-changing cloud lamp designed by Rania Peet.

"I was in a place where I wanted everything in my house to be super trippy," Demi told AD.

"I wanted it to be kind of psychedelic and super vibey, but I also wanted it to have good hosting energy for when I have people over."

Kylie Jenner is still working on her massive Hidden Hills mansion, which has been under construction since 2020. 

The TV personality bought the land off Miley Cyrus for £11.1 million, and began building a compound that reportedly features an underground bunker for her and her family to escape to in case of emergencies.

The rapper got more than he expected when he purchased his Connecticut mansion from boxer Mike Tyson’s ex-wife in 2003, including his very own casino. 

The house was originally built for Colonial Realty founder Benjamin Sisti in 1985, and Mike bought the place in 1996 before installing the special room.

The casino reportedly featured custom-built poker and blackjack tables as well as a bar and state-of-the-art sound system. 

50 Cent's mansion also housed its own nightclub and a whopping 35 bathrooms, to top it off. He sold the property to a Floridian businessman in 2019 for just £2.1 million.

While Beyoncé has never confirmed the existence of any hidden rooms inside the homes she shares with her husband, Jay-Z, the performer did rent out a mansion in The Hamptons that featured its own bowling alley, for whenever she felt drawn to play. 

The rental also boasted its own half-pipe, a rock-climbing wall and heated swimming pool. 

The place was built in 2008 by property developer Joe Farrell, before being sold in 2021 for a whopping over £20 million.
