The silver-fox title for grooming has to be awarded to Brad Pitt, who has transformed his look over the years for so many roles that it's hard to keep up. However, his winning beard came back in 2010 when he sported a distinctive, slightly greying goatee. It marked the era of Brad transitioning from a slick heartthrob into a more rugged silver fox. According to The Sun, he told the publication in March 2010 that his beard didn't really hold any significance to him and that he grew it "out of boredom". Well, it certainly holds significance in our books, as back then the 62-year-old proved he knew how to turn heads with his bearded mountain-man appearance.

Another memorable beard was Ben Affleck's '70s-style, lustrous beard back in 2013, also dubbed his lucky charm. After his film Argo won Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 2013, he famously shaved it off during an Oscars after-party. The beard was a key part of his press run for the political thriller, with the celebratory shave marking his shift into an elite Hollywood director. A source said at the time: "He did it to mark the end of a chapter. It had a ceremonial quality to it."

While Idris Elba has always nailed a short beard trim, his recent appearances have solidified his silver-fox status. Along with the beard comes a suave style of linen shirts and loose trousers, transitioning him into a more tailored aesthetic. Plus, as he owns his own fashion line, the salt-and-pepper stubble look perfectly suits his luxury era.
