Dame Diana Rigg was one of the biggest action stars of the 1960s, appearing in spy series The Avengers while also portraying James Bond's wife in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
However, the star was able to keep reinventing herself and stayed relevant with roles in the likes of Evil Under the Sun, Mother Love, All Creatures Great and Small and Game of Thrones. In the latter, she played the recurring role of Lady Olenna Tyrell, earning four Emmy Award nominations for her work on the show.
During her life, the star was married twice. In 1973, she married the Israeli artist Menachem Gueffen, although the couple split three years later, and the marriage was described as an "idiotic mistake" in The Australian Women's Weekly.
She later found love with Archie Stirling, Laird of Keir, a theatre producer and former member of the Scots Guards. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 1990, when Diana discovered his affair with the actress Joely Richardson.
However, during their relationship, the former couple welcomed a daughter, Rachael Stirling, who followed in Diana's footsteps by becoming an actress.
Here's all you need to know about Dame Diana's daughter…
Diana Rigg's daughter Rachael Stirling
Born on 30 May 1977, Rachael made her screen debut in 1998 when she played Clare Knowles in Still Crazy. She has subsequently appeared in the likes of Triumph of Love, The Young Victoria, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and Wild Bill.
On TV, her biggest role was in the comedy series Detectorists, where she played Becky between 2014 and 2022. Rachael also has credits in Agatha Christie's Marple, Lewis, Midsomer Murders and Heartstopper.
In 2013, Rachael co-starred with her mother in The Crimson Horror, an episode of Doctor Who, with the episode being specifically written to star the pair. It marked the only time that the pair acted together, with Rachael previously turning down the opportunity as the offers had "not been tempting".
Speaking to The Telegraph at the time, she said: "But when such a funny and original script comes through you know the time has come."
Despite her success on screen, Rachael is perhaps best known for her stage career, making her debut in 1997 when she played Desdemona in a performance of Othello. She has twice been nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award, first for her role as Rebecca in The Priory, and secondly for her performance as Lady Chiltern in An Ideal Husband.
Speaking about her mother to The Daily Telegraph last month, she joked that the advice she received from Diana wasn't about acting, but something entirely different. "She taught me that swear words lose all their power if you use them too often," she explained. "You've got to save them up and use them wisely."
