Dirty Dancing fans are counting down the days until the long-awaited sequel arrives on our screens. The follow-up to the iconic 1987 romance starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, which was first announced four years ago, will see original star Jennifer reprise her role as Frances 'Baby' Houseman.
The upcoming film will be set in the 1990s and will focus on a new love story.
It's safe to say that fans are delighted with the news of Jennifer's return to her iconic role, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination and shot to international stardom.
But while Jennifer is a household name thanks to her stellar showbiz career, she's not the only famous face in her family. Jennifer's daughter, Stella, has followed in her mother's footsteps and is pursuing a career in acting. But did you know that she isn't a fan of Dirty Dancing?
Meet Jennifer Grey's daughter Stella
Jennifer welcomed her daughter Stella with her ex-husband, actor and director Clark Gregg, in December 2001.
Jennifer and Clark were married between 2001 and 2020. Announcing their split on Instagram back in 2020, the Red Dawn actress penned: "After 19 years together, we separated in January, knowing we'd always be a family who loves, values and cares for each other," she wrote.
"We recently made the difficult decision to divorce, but we remain close and are deeply grateful for the life we've shared and the wonderful daughter we've raised – Jennifer & Clark. P.S totally crying as we post this."
Jennifer often shares pictures of her daughter on social media. Back in December last year, the 66-year-old marked Stella's 24th birthday with a touching post. "24 years ago today my favorite person burst onto the scene," the actress wrote alongside a carousel of images. "I love you more with every passing day, you continue to amaze me! Happy birthday @stellagregg."
Stella isn't a fan of Dirty Dancing
Back in 2022, Jennifer revealed that her daughter wasn't a fan of Dirty Dancing.
"I think she saw it once. She did not like it and did not want to watch it again," the actress told Entertainment Weekly. "I don't know if she ever watched it again. She did not want see me dancing with anybody but Daddy and it bugged her."
Stella's burgeoning acting career
Just like her parents, Stella is carving out a career in the entertainment industry.
The 24-year-old, who graduated from the Archer School for Girls high school in May 2020, made her big-screen debut in the 2013 comedy film Trust Me, which her father Clark wrote and directed.
Four years later, in 2017, she appeared in the television series Marvel's Agent of SHIELD, and in 2024, starred in the Lifetime Original Movie He Slid Into Her DMs.
Stella also appeared as herself on the documentary TV series Who Do You Think You Are, where her mother discovered much more about her grandfather and family lineage than she thought she knew.
