Fergie's niece gets cabin fever

The Duchess of York's niece, Ayesha Makim, has taken flight with a couple of hunky male models.

The catwalk beauty made her appearance in an effort to help Virgin launch a new range of underwear for men. And the event took product launches to new heights, by staging a catwalk show at 30,000 feet.

Ayesha is already a star in her native Australia, but in recent months her profile has been rising in Europe too. A memorable appearance at Australia Fashion Week, when she flashed her underwear to the audience, got people talking about the teenager. But despite her cheeky performance on the runway, Ayesha says she's really rather retiring.

Her blossoming fashion career has helped the 17-year-old build her confidence, however. "I was actually quite shy but I ended up really liking it," she said. "I love getting my hair and make-up done, I like the adrenaline and all the beautiful clothes."

And the boss of her modelling agency is confident she'll become the next big thing. "Everyone has been taking note of her, she just has this great presence, confidence and attitude on the catwalk," says Anthony Harden. "She has a raft of well-respected photographers clamouring to photograph her."

No doubt her royal connections have helped fuel that interest, but Ayesha is inclined to play down her blue blood links. "I have come to understand all the clamour about it because I have grown up with it," she says. "But it's not really something I think about much."
