A handful of designers, including Jean Paul Gaultier, Donna Karan and Oscar De La Renta, have been lending their clout this week to an invitation-only luxury fashion event in Hong Kong.

The French maestro presented a collection imbued with the elements of fantasy and playfulness for which he is renowned in front of an audience of shoppers rather than the usual fashion editors.

For him this autumn is all about the natural world, with the great outdoors and the animal kingdom serving as inspiration.

His models took to the runway in a series of 'woodland chic' outfits featuring dramatic wildlife prints interspersed with dragon claw images on trousers and dresses. The turning of the seasons was reflected in a rich palette of maple leaf gold, ripe plum and moss green.

Whereas structure and form dominated the haute couture collection he showed in Paris in July, this time undulating fabrics lightly hugged the body as if mimicking contours of the natural landscape itself.
