Princess Anne was the epitome of joyful country elegance as she arrived at All Saints' Church in Kemble on Saturday for the wedding of her son, Peter Phillips, and Harriet Sperling.

The mother of the groom radiated warmth despite the rain as she championed her signature blend of vibrant colour and sustainable fashion in a sunny yellow jacket beautifully layered over a red floral-print dress.

Adding a touch of sweet family nostalgia, she topped the ensemble with a vintage yellow silk hat featuring a distinct brimmed bow - a beloved heirloom famously worn to her daughter Zara Tindall’s christening back in 1981.

Yellow has long been a signature shade for Princess Anne, but on Saturday, other royals eagerly embraced the sunny shade too, including Queen Camilla and Princess Beatrice. It’s a fitting choice according to colour psychology as the vibrant hue symbolises warmth and alertness, and is universally linked to intellect, energy, and joy.

In the sartorial world of royal weddings, where guests are expected to blend tradition with impeccable taste, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal is one of the boldest dressers in the British monarchy. Across decades of family celebrations, from her nephew Prince William’s wedding to her own daughter Zara Tindall’s nuptials, and now at her son Peter Phillips’s second wedding, Anne has proven that wedding guest dressing is not just protocol, it’s a display of personal style, history, and quiet confidence.

What sets Princess Anne apart is her fearless embrace of colour, prints, and personal flair that befits both her position and her age-defying poise.

Silvia Venturini Fendi, former creative director of the Italian fashion house, called her the "most elegant woman in the world" at Milan Fashion Week in 2024, professing she "fell in love with the style of Princess Anne" and adding she was "capable of maintaining her femininity while wearing a uniform."

President of the UK Fashion and Textile Association, the Princess Royal was one of the first to publicly support sustainability in the industry and has a long-standing preference for re-wearing outfits and supporting British tailoring.

Date:

Saturday, 6 June 2026

Venue:

All Saints Church, a beautiful and historic parish church located in the Gloucestershire village of Kemble, Cirencester.

Reception:

A private, deeply intimate gathering understood to be held at Gatcombe Park, the nearby country estate of Princess Anne.

Timings:

Royal guests are due to arrive on the morning of the wedding or the evening before. While well-wishers and onlookers are expected to gather outside the church, the private ceremony itself will last roughly an hour before the party departs for the reception.

Royal guest list:

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are expected to lead the congregation alongside Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Captain Mark Phillips and of course the groom’s sister, Zara Tindall, and her husband Mike. The Prince and Princess of Wales are also likely to attend, as too are Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Notable absences:

Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not expected to attend the private family event.

Blended family:

The couple's children will be at the heart of the day, including Peter's daughters, Savannah and Isla Phillips, and Harriet’s daughter, Georgina.

Wedding band:

Harriet will likely follow strict royal bridal tradition by wearing a bespoke wedding band crafted from the family's private reserve of rare Welsh gold, historically sourced from the Clogau St David's mine.

Marital status & titles:

As Peter is a non-working royal who does not hold a peerage, his new marital status will not alter his official standing, and Harriet will not receive a royal title upon marriage.

Speaking of personal style in 2022, she said: "The Queen and I had a discussion the other day about the difference between fashion and style and I think maybe that’s relevant in the sense that she didn’t do fashion but she certainly does style, and style tends to last longer. You have an individual style and it’s a quality which has a long-term value."

Here, we take a look back at Princess Anne's wedding guest outfits over the years.

Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston, 2019

This isn't the first time Princess Anne has worn yellow to a wedding. For Lady Gabriella Windsor’s May 2019 wedding at St. George’s Chapel, she delivered bold, sartorial colour blocking in this striking yellow coat dress.

The vibrant piece was beautifully tempered with deep royal blue accents, showcased on the structured lapels and a peeking underskirt. It also featured a single row of dark buttons and sharp, asymmetric pocket detailing.

Never one to shy away from coordinated millinery, Anne topped the look with a matching, structured fedora featuring a statement side bow. She finished the ensemble with a chic blue neck scarf and a gold brooch pinned to her lapel.

For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2018 wedding, the Princess Royal opted for a wrap-style coat dress in a rich, textured burgundy brocade, subtly patterned with delicate floral sprigs. Embracing a bold, two-tone palette, the design featured a deep navy blue contrasting lining that flipped out at the structured cuffs and wide lapels.

True to societal form, she elevated the ensemble with a dramatic navy-and-burgundy fascinator overflowing with sculptural feathers and fine netting, paired with a plush navy suede clutch.

As the mother of the bride to Zara, back in July 2011, the Princess Royal wore a vibrant coral-pink midi dress, masterfully texturised with sharp accordion pleats that added movement as she arrived at Canongate Kirk. She layered the gown with a structured cream cropped jacket, featuring an elegant 1950s-style portrait collar and a delicate coral-and-gold floral embroidery, balancing regal gravitas with summer freshness.

Abiding by high-society dress codes, she accessorised with a sweeping, wide-brimmed fascinator adorned with sculptural tulle and silk florals, completing the look with a multi-strand pearl choker passed down to her by her mother, the late Queen, cream leather gloves, and a matching clutch.

Prince William and Princess Kate, 2011

For the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey in April 2011, Princess Anne delivered a vibrant spring look, fully leaning into a cheerful, clashing colour palette.

The Princess Royal arrived in her signature bold style wearing a tailored coat dress featuring a graphic floral print in shades of lime green, chartreuse, and rich violet. The botanical ensemble was elevated by a coordinating lavender dress underneath.

She grounded the look with neutral patent pumps, her pearl choker, and a flamboyant lavender fascinator adorned with sculptural silk rosettes and delicate netting.

Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly, 2008

At Peter Phillips's first wedding to Autumn Kelly at St George's Chapel in 2008, Princess Anne opted for rich tones rather than traditional pastels. She wore a chocolate brown dress with a pleated skirt layered beneath a structured cream jacket, creating a striking yet grounded contrast. The cropped jacket featured sharp tailoring and subtle detailing at the collar, adding a statement necklace
