Though Britain is her adopted home, Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, pregnant with her first child, will apparently be welcoming her little one stateside.

According to reports, the Oscar-winner's pal Madonna, who had her son Rocco in America though she lived in the UK, has convinced her it would be better to give birth in the US.

"Gwyneth has always wanted a home birth so she didn't think it would make much difference where she had it," a friend is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail. "But Madonna, who had lots of complications with son Rocco, told her that is something went wrong, America is the place to be."

The Shakespeare In Love actress, who is also using her famous friend's doctor, is said to be planning to give birth at her mum Blythe Danner's California home.

Madonna ruffled British feathers just before she gave birth to her son in 2000, by saying that she would never have a child in a UK hospìtal. "Have you been to hospitals in England?," she said at the time. "They are old and Victorian. You know I like efficiency."
