Marilyn and Lily team up for 'Phantasmagoria'

Even posing against the skyline of Europe's most alternative city, Marilyn Manson, dressed head-to-toe in black, cuts a striking figure. On this occasion, however, it wasn't just his dramatic makeup that drew onlookers' attention in Berlin but also the striking contrast with his ethereal companion Lily Cole.

The unusual pair joined forces at the city's film festival to whip up interest in a flick Marilyn is planning about celebrated children's author Lewis Carroll. In a delicate shift dress that would have done little to shield her from the cold, the British catwalk darling appeared before the cameras to promote her screen debut in the movie.

The pet project of the gothic rocker - who is set to direct and star in the title role - offers a darker interpretation of the writer's life. With her sweetly angelic demeanour, the 17-year-old is being lined up to play Alice in Phantasmagoria - The Visions Of Lewis Carroll.

Another young talent in the German city was Lindsay Lohan. The redhead-turned-brunette appeared alongside Woody Harrelson and Meryl Streep at the screening of A Prairie Home Companion. The trio of Hollywood favourites star in Robert Altman's behind-the-scenes look at a wildly popular US radio show.

As with all the veteran director's ensemble dramas, the atmosphere on set was obviously very congenial and Lindsay couldn't resist greeting her co-star Meryl with an affectionate kiss.

Meanwhile a dapper-looking George Clooney also attended the fest to drum up support for his political drama Syriana, which features Matt Damon.
