The new season of The Voice kicked off on Monday night when new coach Kylie Minogue headed for dinner with fellow newbie Ricky Wilson and the show's original coaches Will.i.am and Tom Jones.

The pop star joined the fellow famous faces for their first night out together at the Smoke bar and restaurant in Manchester's Malmaison Hotel.

Kylie, 45, who had just flown in from Hong Kong for the occasion, looked cute and relaxed in a white top and black loose-fitting trousers.

Blue suede heels and a black leather jacket added an edge to her casual outfit. She wore her hair in tousled waves and subtle make-up left her looking fresh-faced despite the long-haul flight.

The Aussie singer has the job many dream of. "First day at school... er work" she posted on Instagram, along with a snap of herself appearing shy and little girl-like.

Kylie is replacing outgoing coach Jessie J on BBC talent show The Voice, while Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky is sitting in Danny O'Donoghue from The Script's red chair.

Fans shouldn't get excited just yet, though, as auditions won't hit TV screens until Spring 2014.

The first blind auditions for the third series begin on Tuesday at MediaCity UK in Salford. They will run until Sunday.

Petit pop star Kylie is very excited to be involved in the talent show. When the news of her taking a spinning chair was announced, she said: "I'm very excited to become a Coach on The Voice. I love the concept of the show and have been an avid viewer of both series.

"The search for new talent is such an important aspect of the music industry and The Voice gives us all a part to play in that. Will I be competitive? Probably more than even I imagine! Watch this space!"

The Voice returns to BBC1 in Spring 2014.
