Kym Marsh has opened up about how she and her three children will be spending Christmas this year. The Coronation Street star revealed that her teenagers David and Emily, from her first relationship, and her three-year-old daughter Polly, from her marriage to Jamie Lomas, will all be reunited for the festive season. "I can't wait," said Kym. "It's going to be great. We'll be having a big family Christmas at home. We always have Christmas at home, we never go away."

Kym Marsh said her Coronation Street character Michelle will be having a 'bittersweet' Christmas

While the actress described her family celebrations as "your typical Christmas Day" with a traditional Christmas dinner, Kym – best known for playing Michelle Connor – added that she was particularly excited for her youngest daughter Polly. "This year will be the first year Polly will really understand about Santa, so I'm excited to do the mince pie and carrot with her," said Kym, 38. "I try and get her presents earlier as when children are little, all the popular toys sell out really fast. I would hate for her to miss out on the toy of the year so I like to get that sorted sooner rather than later."

Kym added that on the night before Christmas, she tends to sit in front of the TV and wrap all the presents, and this year will be helped by David and Emily. "It's just something I really like to do, staying up 'til 2am wrapping presents – it's lovely," said Kym. "My two older children will help me out and we'll watch Christmas movies as well."

While the former Hear'Say singer has a blissful holiday planned, her character Michelle's Christmas will be more "bittersweet", she added. "Michelle does get to spend it with Steve but I don't think it's the Christmas reunion she will be hoping for," said Kym. "I'd love them to get back together in the New Year and resolve their issues, and get Steve back to being himself." Kym was previously married to Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, Polly's father, but the pair divorced in January of this year citing unreasonable behaviour.
