Greg Rutherford and Ore Oduba top leaderboard on Strictly Come Dancing

Greg Rutherford and Ore Oduba shared the top spot on the scoreboard forStrictly Come Dancing's first ever live show after wowing the judges.

Ore and his partner Joanne Clifton danced the tango to Geronimo by Sheppard and had a great response from the judges, with Craig Revel Horwood saying: "I loved all the storytelling at the beginning, it set up the whole dance for me."

Ole came in joint first place with Greg

The pair tied on 27 points with Greg and his dance partner Natalie Lowe, despite the Olympic gold medallist's revelation that he nearly quit after struglling with the moves earlier this week. The dancing duo launched into an incredible jive routine which included Greg leapfrogging over Natalie Lowe.

Head judge Len Goodman said: "'It was as good as we’ve seen tonight, 100 per cent. You came out there, you gave it full on, a great attack."

Greg wowed the judges with his jive

"That's what I mean by giving it welly. I loved it," fellow judge Bruno Tonioli added. "I'm telling you, you have talent. I really loved watching you."

The star had spoken to The Sun about how difficult he was finding the moves earlier this week, saying: "On our first group training day, I had a complete meltdown. Everyone else was doing so great, picking everything up.

Laura Whitemore tied in second place with Robert Rinder

"Everyone is so good, so it does worry me. Natalie found me hiding in another room and literally hauled me back to the dance class."

Meanwhile, Judge Robert Rinder and Laura Whitmore tied in second place with 25 points, with judge Darcey Bussell calling Robert's performance "extraordinary," while Lesley Joseph and Naga Munchetty found themselves at the bottom of the leader board with 23 points each.

Tonight sees the remaining celebrity contestants Anastacia, Claudia Fragapane, Daisy Lowe, Ed Balls, Louise Redknapp, Will Young, Melvin Odoom, Danny Mac and Tameka Empson competing to knock Greg and Ore off the top spot.
