A brand new trailer for the highly-anticipated movie, Jackie, has been released, and Natalie Portman's performance as the First Lady to President John F. Kennedy has already been surrounded by Oscar buzz.

The second clip shows the Hollywood actress morph into Jacqueline Kennedy, dressed in her signature pink suit and infamous pillbox hat - the outfit which was worn the day her husband died in 1963.

The story journeys through the horrific open car shooting to dealing with the aftermath of the assassination, before showing a dramatic scene of the American socialite attending her husband's funeral.

"I'm not the first lady anymore," the actress says in the clip. "I lost Jack somewhere. What was real? What was performance?"

Speaking about her portrayal of Jackie at the Los Angeles premiere of the film, mother-of-one Natalie revealed how much she admired how the former First Lady carried herself in public - even after the death of her husband.

"It's understanding that even when she was going through something incredibly private, it meant something to other people how she presented herself publicly," she said.

Jackie documents Jacqueline Kennedy's struggle as a widow

"I loved that she defined herself as a wife primarily, but then lived a life that was very counter to that where she was her own woman," she added. "It was like she didn't know how to be any other way, except exactly herself."

The Pablo Larrain biopic, which won the best screenplay at the Venice Film Festival, also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, Richard E. Grant and John Hurt.

Jackie will be released in the US on December 2, and in the UK on January 20
