Although very little has been revealed about Emilia's involvement, the Star Wars official site confirmed that the star would be meeting Han and his sidekick Chewbacca on their adventures in the film which is due to be released in 2018.

In the meantime, the 30-year-old recently confirmed that she was in the middle of filming Game of Thrones season seven after posting a fun selfie of herself with fellow cast member Lena Headey and their friend, Candy Banks. She captioned the snap: "Now that's what I call a cracking gals night... half way through filming?! Bring it on season 7. #forgetwinterdancingiscoming #kweenskickingoff… Dis is how we do it."

This is not the only exciting news to come from the Star Wars universe this week, as Princess Leia actress Carrie Fisher revealed that she and Harrison Ford had an "intense" affair during the filming of Episode IV: A New Hope.

Speaking to People magazine, she said: "It was so intense. It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend."

In her reveal-all book, The Princess Diarist, she continued: "I looked over at Harrison. A hero's face – a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow. How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?

"I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind."
