Netflix is known for its zany and offbeat comedies, and the streaming giant has recently added The Wonderfools, which certainly fulfils that brief!

The eight-part Korean drama landed on the streaming giant back in May, and fans have been loving the show, with it even boasting a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The drama follows three young misfits in 1999 who accidentally gain superpowers following exposure to toxic chemicals. However, the superpowers are unstable, only being able to be activated at specific times, but when the group find a civil servant with telekinetic abilities, they beg him to train them.

However, as news of their powers spread, the group are targeted by the Church of Eternal Salvation, a fanatical doomsday cult, and ruthless scientist Ha Won-do, who previously experimented on orphans attempting to awaken superpowers within them.

What did fans make of The Wonderfools?

Fans have been full of praise for the superhero drama, as one enthused: "A perfect weekend binge that'll definitely catch you off guard. Turns out the universe has terrible taste in heroes - and honestly, that's what makes it so good."

A second added: "If you want a laugh-out-loud, joyful ride with immense heart and top-tier acting chemistry, ignore the critics expecting a dark action series and just enjoy this chaotic masterpiece. It delivers exactly what it promises!" while a third posted: "I finished watching The WONDERfools and the story was so good. It balanced action, comedy, and emotional moments perfectly, making it such an entertaining and fun drama from start to finish."

The Wonderfools quickly became a hit with fans

Meanwhile, a fourth said: "Wonderfools is the kind of drama that gives you everything. Heart, humour, emotion, mystery, and characters that stay with you long after each episode ends."

Critics have also been positive about the show, with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender sharing: "It may seem at first that the show is spinning too many plates, but it never bites off more than it can chew. Seemingly unrelated storylines in earlier episodes dovetail later in the season to present an exciting climax and to further reward repeat viewing."
