It's been almost two decades since Sons of Anarchy debuted, but there's one scene that has stayed with Kim Coates after all these years.

For seven seasons, Kim played Alexander "Tig" Trager, a fiercely loyal member of the club who previously served in the United States Marine Corps and had zero hesitation when it came to violence required by the motorcycle club.

In season five, viewers watched as Tig's daughter Dawn was burned alive in front of Tig by Damon Pope (Harold Perrineau). The horrific moment cruelly came from Pope as revenge, with Pope targeting Dawn because Tig had accidentally killed Pope's daughter, Veronica.

That scene has remained an on-set moment that has stayed with Kim, with the actor telling HELLO!: "Harold Perrineau, who played Pope, was so unbelievable and it was so violent and so horrifying.

"But as an actor, to pull the stuff that you need out of you as a human being to portray that kind of horror was something that has kind of stayed with me, for sure."

That level of raw performances on set allowed the cast to also form a real-world connection that outlived the show's 2014 finale.

"I talk to Charlie Hunnam all the time," Kim told HELLO! at the Anna Pigeon red carpet. "Ron Perlman, I see all the time. I don't see enough of Theo Rossi anymore as he's moved to Texas, so I don't see him much, but Tommy Flanagan and [Mark] Boone and DL [David Labara]. I see the boys, and it's just an incredible bond we all made for those seven years."

Their on-screen and real-life camaraderie will now see the cast return to the world of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original (SAMCRO) for a new spin-off series.

Sons of Anarchy: Legends will reunite Charlie and Kim with Ron, Theo, Tommy, and Boone, as well as Katey Sagal and Maggie Siff. The cast will play fictionalized versions of themselves, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.

The official description: "When the cast of Sons of Anarchy reunites at a fan convention after more than a decade, the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show."

The show's original creator, Kurt Sutter, is not involved.

Charlie starred as Jackson "Jax" Teller in the hit FX crime drama, a single father whose loyalty is tested when he discovers the group's original manifesto, which reveals the club was founded as a peaceful, anti-establishment brotherhood of freedom and counter-culture, rather than the criminal enterprise it has become.

Charlie – a first-time Emmys nominee in 2026 for Netflix crime-drama series Monster: The Ed Gein Story – has been working on the idea for three years, and will executive produce.
