This is not a drill! Netflix has officially announced a brand-new Bridgerton spin-off centred on the beloved family matriarch, Lady Violet.
The upcoming series follows the early life of Lady Violet, telling the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.
Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes will co-write, showrun, and executive produce the romance drama alongside Nicholas Nardini.
The new project marks the second spin-off in the Bridgerton universe, following the success of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story in 2022.
As a die-hard Bridgerton fan, I could not be more excited about this. Fans have been crying out for Lady Violet's backstory, and I can't wait to see a whole new side to the matriarch in the new spin-off.

What do we know about the Lady Violet spin-off?
According to Tudum, the series "will chronicle the early life of a young Lady Violet and tell the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton."
Ruth Gemmell portrays the character in the main Bridgerton series, while Connie Jenkins-Greig played the younger Violet in Queen Charlotte.
It has yet to be confirmed whether Jenkins-Greig will reprise her role.

Meanwhile, production on season five is currently underway. The upcoming installment will focus on the third Bridgerton daughter, Francesca (Hannah Dodd), and her romance with heiress Michaela (Masali Baduza).
The synopsis continues: "But when John's cousin Michaela returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran's complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions."
The smash-hit period drama, based on Julia Quinn's book series, follows the Bridgerton family as they navigate London's high society in the early 19th century.
The most recent season centred on the Bohemian second Bridgerton son Benedict (Luke Thompson) and his romance with maid Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
Series three focused on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington, now Bridgerton, (Nicola Coughlan).
A release date has yet to be announced.
