Ready to continue swooning and yearning into 2027? Netflix is making sure of that as its adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is set to land on 3 December.

And to get fans in the mood for the classic romance, it has finally dropped the first trailer. From scenic country houses to gorgeous dances, we cannot wait to be transported back to the 19th century to watch how everything plays out.

The trailer features several key moments, including the opening scene of Lizzy (Emma Corrin) and Jane (Freya Mavor) on the roof discussing their futures as either a governess, a wife, or a spinster.

The first look also sees Mr Darcy (Jack Lowden) start to soften, having initially appeared belligerent towards Lizzy.

The series is being helmed by Dolly Alderton, and revealing what fans can expect from the period drama, she said: "Pride and Prejudice is such a timeless story because of the emotions in the book; they are as pertinent now as they were in 1812.

"Embarrassment of your family, fear that you're going to get left behind, fear that the world is not going to be a safe place for your children as it was for you, mortification that you judged someone incorrectly or that you had been misjudged. We go to that book to see our hearts reflected in it."

The synopsis for the much-anticipated drama reads: "When wealthy bachelors arrive in their neighbourhood, the five Bennet sisters must navigate love, family, and society's expectations to secure their futures.

"Jane falls for the charming Mr Bingley, while Elizabeth clashes with his proud friend Mr Darcy – but unexpected encounters and family scandals force Elizabeth to reconsider her feelings and discover the true nature of love."

We can't wait for this new series

Fans were similarly overjoyed, as one commented: "I'm so happy this is a series, not a movie! Trying to cover the entire story in one movie leaves out so much good stuff," while a second added: "It has the 2005 vibes adapted into a longer series. I hope this new adaptation can continue the success of previous versions."

A third enthused: "I'm so excited. Everyone looks amazing and I love how bright it is! And I did giggle seeing that we’re getting the 'propensity to hate everyone' scene!" and a fourth mused: "I could watch 50 different adaptations of Pride and Prejudice and still love every single one. I’ll never get tired of this story. And with Olivia Colman in it, you just know it’s going to be good!"
