For our brand new February issue (it’s the high street special) we shot this "Rebel Rebel" beauty story.

The make-up looks were inspired by the Spring Summer 2018 shows, but recreated by make-up artist Kenneth Soh using high street products - including Buxom’s brand new Plumpline Lip Liners (we’re obsessed with these creamy, highly pigmented pencils), Glossier's cult Boy Brow and Spectrum’s nifty So Fine Angled Eyeliner Brush (when it comes to flicks, it does the work for you).

'Star Dust' is a flash of steely blue eye shadow, swept underneath the eye and out towards the tip of the brow. Kenneth used a playing card to keep the top line clean and then he buffed out the blue pigment below. 'Skinny Brows' is a quirky 90s throwback - dark drawn-on arches reminiscent of over-plucked brows. Remember to brush up your natural brows to soften the edges of the pencil line. 'Split Lip' is a take on Pat McGrath's artful lip look for the Maison Margiela SS18 show. Kenneth prepped the mouth using Bareminerals Bare Skin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer before carving out the silhouette with lip liner. 'Fine Lines' requires a steady hand - three inky flicks, stacked on top of each other in parallel lines. We saw similarly graphic eye looks backstage at Kenzo, Mugler and Marni.

The statement lip is super matte and bold

And 'Velvet Mouth' is the statement lip of our dreams. As seen at Valentino, it’s a super-matte, hyper-bright fusion of pink, orange and red. Kenneth prepped lips with a balm, over-lined with a liner, applied lipstick, blotted down shine and finished by patting on some loose eye shadow pigment. So not just a straightforward swipe of colour…

Beauty director Charlotte Jolly shot this story back in December with photographer Pete Pedonomou at a studio in Hackney Wick, London. Our beautiful model, Anja Konstantinova had recently given birth to her first baby, Ozzy - who joined us on set. It was so inspiring to see Anja back to work and in the make-up chair while breast-feeing her four month-old babe. Special shout out to Louis Byrne - who is not only a very skilful hair stylist, but a brilliant baby pacifier, too.
