"First day at 50. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes yesterday!" she captioned the striking snap, in which she is smiling while lying down, flaunting her glossy brunette tresses and flawless skin, while wearing a pink and cream shirt.

Cindy marked her milestone birthday by jetting off to St Barths, with husband Rande Gerber. The pair, who did not appear to be joined by their children, headed to the Caribbean island on the Casamigos airplane owned by Rande and his best friend George Clooney, before soaking up the sun on the beach and making the most of some quality time together. "RandeGerber whisking me away for my birthday weekend," Cindy captioned a photo of the happy couple sat on the plane's steps before setting off.

No doubt the supermodel also enjoyed a short break from her hectic work schedule, which includes touring with her new book Becoming, a memoir of her incredible career.

A firm advocate of natural beauty, Cindy opened up about the pressures of ageing while living constantly being in the spotlight, admitting she is often shocked when she sees paparazzi photos and spots changes she hadn't noticed.

"Having been a model now for more than 30 years and dependent on my looks for my work, seeing those changes might even be a little bit harder for me," she explained, describing what she has dubbed "the illusion of Cindy Crawford".

She added: "At times the pressure to live up to the fashion industry's expectations feels overwhelming."
