Liv Tyler has revealed her newborn son's name. The actress, who gave birth to her second son on 11 February, shared a sweet Instagram post on Friday announcing the youngster's nautical moniker. "Sailor Gene Gardner @davidgardner76," she captioned the picture, tagging her boyfriend and Sailor's dad Dave Gardner. Dave echoed his partner's post, sharing the same sweet photo of baby Sailor clutching a blue pendant with an anchor symbol.

The duo's Instagram photos came the day after they were spotted out and about together for the first time since welcoming baby Sailor. Both wearing dark overcoats to protect against the cold weather, the pair walked arm-in-arm around West Village in New York. Fans of the Lord of the Rings actress noted that she appeared to be sporting a diamond on her left ring finger. Liv and Dave's first child together was born six weeks early, meaning that the 37-year-old mum-of-two spent some time in hospital following the birth.

Due to his surprise arrival, Sailor's grandfather Steven Tyler had to race to New York to make it in time to support his daughter Liv. The Aerosmith frontman wrote in a Facebook post that when he got the call to say that his daughter had gone into labour early, he jumped straight on the first plane to the Big Apple to be by her side. "After crying like a baby myself, I immediately dropped everything and went to the airport to get on the next available flight," he wrote. "When I landed I kept calling my daughter Mia who was already helping Liv and she kept giving me minute by minute updates, [saying] "HURRY THE BABY IS COMING!"

Despite arriving a little earlier than expected, Sailor is doing well and a representative for the couple told People: "He's healthy and everyone is happy". Proud dad Dave, who has a seven-year-old son called Gray from his relationship with Davinia Taylor, was the first to share a photo of his new baby. "Our little one has arrived," Dave captioned the photo. "Beautiful baby boy... Happy Valentine's Day @misslivalittle." As well as Gray, Sailor also has big brother Milo, 10, who is Liv's son from her marriage to Royston Langdon.
