Meet 70s star Malcolm McDowell's 5 children – including son who followed him into showbusiness
Malcolm McDowell rocketed to fame in 1971 when he landed the lead role in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, and the star is now a proud father to five children
Malcolm McDowell has been in the industry for over 60 years, with the 82-year-old actor best known for his breakout role as Alex back in 1971's A Clockwork Orange.
The role cemented him as an acting icon, and he has since appeared in the likes of the Halloween franchise, Voyage of the Damned, Caligula, The Call, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead and Psycho Killer.
However, despite his iconic career, the star's trophy cabinet is surprisingly empty. Malcolm has never been nominated for an Academy Award, although A Clockwork Orange did earn him a Golden Globe nomination. Over his life, Malcolm has won eight awards, including at the Philadelphia Film Festival and a Lifetime Achievement award from the Sitges Film Festival.
Despite this, Malcolm has an incredible legacy, thanks to the five children that he has. He shares two of his children with actress Mary Steenburgen, while he shares three sons with his current wife, Kelley Kuhr.

Malcolm's only daughter is the actress Lilly McDowell, whom he shares with Mary Steenburgen. Lilly was born in 1981, ten years after her father's breakout role.
The star made her debut in 1997, when she appeared in 2103: The Deadly Wake, playing an uncredited servant. She soon landed more substantial roles, appearing in the likes of Over There, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sons of Anarchy, Suing the Devil, Mischief Night and The Manchurian Candidate, the latter of which saw her acting opposite Meryl Streep.
However, it turned out that Lilly had a different passion, and she's since left the acting industry to become an interior designer, running Lilly Walton Design.
The star is happily married to Charlie Walton, and the couple share three daughters.
Malcolm and Mary's second child is the screenwriter and director Charlie McDowell, and he made his debut in 2006 with the short film, Bye Bye Benjamin. The star has also worked on the likes of The One I Love, Discovery and The Summer Book.
Charlie was previously in a relationship with Emilia Clarke, but in 2019, he found love with the actress Lily Collins. The pair married in 2021, and last year they confirmed that they had welcomed their first child through surrogacy.
Despite Charlie's wife being the face of Netflix'sEmily in Paris, his father doesn't approve of her flagship show. Speaking to People last year, Malcolm admitted: "To be honest with you, it's not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that. But I'm the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she's absolutely one of the great actresses."
Malcolm is also the father of the singer Beckett McDowell, whom he shares with Kelley Kuhr. Beckett initially had a solo career with hits like Pale Blue Eyes and Wildfire, but he now plays with the B-Sides.
In 2023, he competed on American Idol, before deciding to leave the competition. In a post, Beckett explained: "I'm not going to say why I didn't decide to continue in the competition but what I will say is that it was my choice.
"I am forever grateful to my American Idol family and I will always look back at the experience with the utmost gratitude and fondness. Please go vote for my friends now as they continue on in the competition."
Malcolm's son Finnian has revealed that he's planning to enter the entertainment industry, but it appears that he's trying to get rid of the links to his A-list father.
Speaking to People last year, Malcolm revealed: "He's just starting, and to see the longing, and also the nervousness of doing it, and getting out for one of the first times, it was really fantastic for me to see it, [but] he doesn't hear anything from me."
He added: "But I'm their dad. They don't look at me like I'm this actor who's got 300 credits and has been doing it for 60 years. I'm just dad, and dad doesn't know diddly squat, you know?"
