Undergarments as clothing is nothing new. At the height of the pandemic you couldn’t open a fashion magazine without hearing about ‘loungewear’ the pyajama-clothing hybrid that made its way out of the sheets and into the streets thanks to the new normal.
Of course that one seemed to make sense, now comes its successor… The cotton boxer short. Having been slowly tricking onto our instagram feeds for the last couple of weeks thanks to influencers, this trend is one you will be seeing everywhere this summer.

“Givenchy dialled up the off-duty dress code by adding a tailored twist in the form of a micro- check blazer to its textured boxer shorts. Don’t borrow from the boys, get your own!” our Fashion Editor Rachel story explains. They were even spotted recently on Anne Hathaway who wore her boxer-like Valentino shorts, with elasticated waistband, at a high-end Bulgari event this week, proof that these shorts are suitable for every occasion.
