For the everyday glasses-wearer, popping on your specs needn't be an unremarkable moment – instead, a stylish pair of frames should instantly elevate your outfit and, of course, flatter your face shape.

Frustratingly, when you factor in your prescription, the price of a pair of designer glasses can quickly become eye-watering. However, if there's one accessory that you should be investing in, it truly ought to be the one that you wear on a daily basis.

Elsa Hosk created a pair of bang on-trend oval glasses for Christopher Cloos

As much as it pains us to admit, investment dressing isn't solely about the exquisitely handcrafted stilettos that you lovingly turn to once every five years. Pieces that you wear far more regularly, such as your glasses equally deserve your sartorial attention – perhaps to an even greater extent.

Which styles of glasses are on trend for 2023?

Last year, the cult-favourite sunglasses shape was without a doubt the oval. The 1990s style had everyone head over heels, from Hailey Bieber to Kendall Jenner, and it’s not hard to see why. Elsa Hosk also championed the oval frames look, having created a optical pair for her collaboration with Danish eyewear designer Christopher Cloos in 2022.

But which styles set to be huge for 2023? Hello! Fashion caught up with Tom Broughton, founder of modern spectacle company Cubitts, to find out which glasses trends ought to be on your radar this year.

"At Cubitts, we’ve always believed that spectacles have the ability to help define and express identity," Tom says. "2023 is no different. Our Bespoke+ service allows customers to create a frame uniquely handmade for them in any colour, size and shape."

"Every year, we see a resurgence of traditional spectacle shapes. In 2023, classic shapes will be joined by distinctive shapes, like the ever-popular aviator."

"We're also going to see a rise in demand for green frames. This is a shade we’ve featured prominently in our Spring/Summer collection, and you’ll see Khaki, Emerald, Army, Sage and Celadon across our collection."

"We also anticipate an ever-growing appetite for colour in general, with people edging towards graphic block colours - deep greens, milky almonds and bold reds, - matched with varying textures of gloss and matte."
