Meghan Markle’s dress code for her date night with Prince Harry last night was: less Frogmore, more enviably elegant attire that everybody wants to recreate.

The Duchess of Sussex is somewhat of an expert in responding to scandals with show stopping ensembles that detract attention away from the news and hone in on her killer outfits.

New reports say Buckingham Palace issued an eviction notice for the two to leave Frogmore Cottage for good shortly after the release of Harry’s memoir Spare, with King Charles III offering the 10-bedroom cottage to Prince Andrew.

But Meghan didn’t let hearsay stop her from enjoying a night out in Hollywood with Harry. The last time we saw the two have a date night was at the Ripple of Hope Gala in December, when Meghan wore that white Dior dress, that could have been her very own revenge dress moment.

Time after time she’s proven her worth as an unofficial minimalist fashion muse. And her look last night was no different, cementing that the scarf jacket trend is here to stay for 2023.

At the top of her list of sartorial accolades, the 41-year-old is a certified camel coat connoisseur. Alongside her sought after Max Mara wool number, she’s donned earth-toned coats from the likes of Reiss and Prada and in various lengths and silhouettes.

Of course, camel coats will never be outdated, but she gave her stylish outerwear wardrobe a fashion influencer-approved upgrade, wearing a cape-like jacket that fastened at the top, with tie cuffs and the classy scarf appendage stylishly thrown over one shoulder.

She paired the coveted coat with skinny-leg leather trousers (a much welcomed sight for those who wish the slim-leg style never left). Sienna Miller also donned skinny jeans to the Prada show at Milan Fashion Week last week – are we seeing the beginning of another 2000s comeback?

Meghan finished the look with black stilettos, a black clutch and dainty diamond hoop earrings, giving ‘less is more’ vibes throughout the whole ensemble.

The scarf jacket trend took the sartorial set by storm on social media in Autumn 2022 thanks to the insane popularity of Toteme’s embroidered wool scarf jacket. Though many dupes from the likes of H&M swiftly followed suit, the impact of Toteme’s coat alone was clear.

As of March 1 2023, the hashtag #scarfjacket has 1.9 million views on TikTok, and specifically #totemescarfjacket has an incredible 6.4 million.

Meghan was, as always, bang on trend with the elevated minimalism.
