We're obsessed with Coachella at Hello! Fashion. Despite sadly watching the festival's highlights through our screens, we love the style trends to inspire our festival wardrobes, the fashionista's who wear the most consecutive memorable looks of the weekend (Alessandra Ambrosio is our winner for 2023), and the A-listers who shock us with the most unexpected 'lewks' (a la Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber wearing the most laidback festival looks of all time).

But if there's one thing we're even more obsessed with, it's Zendaya. This year she completely stole the show when she stepped out on stage at the festival to perform live for the first time in over seven years, sending Coachella attendees, music fans and fashion lovers alike into Euphoria overdrive.

The actress who plays protagonist Rue Bennett in the hit HBO show, joined forces with Labrinth (who recorded the show's entrie soundtrack) to close his set and perform I’m Tired and All of Us.But the one thing more surprising than her appearance on stage, was her completely unexpected outfit that we are in awe of.

Zendaya and Law Roach have worked together since the dawn of her career

Zendaya’s style is notably bold, powerful and she's totally unafraid to experiment with colour, pattern clashes, funky silhouettes or daring necklines. However, there's one consistency with all of her looks: they're always super polished. But her Coachella look boasted a totally different style agenda to what we’ve seen over the last 12 years working with her longterm stylist, Law Roach.

She nailed cool-girl festival dressing in a pink babydoll dress boasting tiered ruffles and a contrasting red trim, layered with a white vest top. Going by her usual polished style agenda off the red carpet, her Y2K inspired dress was unexpected anyway, but the expectation may have been for her to pair such a different look with fresh trainers or perhaps some chic western boots (the footwear of choice for the majority of Coachella guests). But instead, Z opted for black lace up thigh high Christian Louboutin boots that juxtaposed her retro boho mini with the grungiest footwear she has ever rocked.

It’s no secret that Law Roach announced his retirement from styling on Instagram after doing so in the most dramatic way possible expressing: “My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve [sic] supported me and my career over the years.”

“The politics , the lies and false narratives finally got me!” he continued.

But a day after the announcement, the stylist took to Twitter to explain: “So y’all really think I’m breaking up with Z…we are forever!” In a second tweet, Roach continued, saying, “She’s my little sister and it's real love not the fake industry love.”

Perhaps her return to performing after a long hiatus, plus a new Law Roach is signalling the start of a new style era?

Either way, we can guarantee she'll continue to nail every single dress code.
