Following Spain’s triumphant (somewhat surprising) win over France last night, the words on everybody’s lips are Lamine Yamal. The 19-year-old forward has captured the hearts of football fans across the globe, courtesy of his stellar performance throughout the 2026 World Cup.
Born on 13 July 2007 in Barcelona, to Moroccan-Equatorial Guinean parents Mounir and Sheila, the star was scouted at just the age of seven and he soon joined the La Masia Academy, which has produced some of the sport's best players including Lionel Messi, Xavi and Gerard Piqué.
Aged just 15, Lamine made professional debut in 2023, playing for La Liga club Barcelona FC, and has since earned 31 senior caps for the Spain national football team. He is widely considered one of the best players in the world at present.
Which means it takes quite a woman to keep him in check. Lamine’s girlfriend Inés García has been spotted pitchside throughout the tournament, sporting an array of WAG-tastic outfits that have piqued the interest of fashion insiders across the board. But who is the 21-year-old and what does she do?
Who is Inés García?
Inés García is a social media personality, content creator and model from Spain. She is signed with IN Model Management, and has worked with brands including Pandora, Kiko Milano, Estée Lauder, Sephora and Oppo.
She had previously alluded to her relationship with the star player on Instagram, posting images of herself wearing a Spanish football shirt emblazoned with Lamine’s name, captioning the posts ‘Let’s go my love,’ in her mother tongue. On Tuesday night, she confirmed the relationship by sharing a sweet series of images showcasing the two embracing post-match, writing: “Estás en la final [love heart emoji] see you NY.”
Rumours about the pair's relationship began to swirl in spring 2026. While getting ready to catch her flight to Los Angeles to support the Spanish team as they faced off against Austria, Inés addressed her followers. "I'm finally going to tell you how I met my boyfriend!" She continued: "You're probably expecting some perfect, crazy love story. Like I saw him in a store, the way it supposedly went down... my saviour, my hero."
"Here's the real story: 3, 2, 1... social media!" she revealed to her online following. "I'd love to tell you some super crazy story, like I saw him at an airport, or ran into him and dropped my papers, and he helped me pick them up. Nope, nope, nope. We met on social media," she said, putting an end to the rumours.
She elaborated: "People started seeing us together when we went to Greece," referring to the trip that made headlines in April 2026. "I've known Lamine for a lot longer than that. Not quite three years, but a good deal more months than people realise, even now." Her comment sent fans digging through the timeline, since Lamine had confirmed the end of his relationship with Argentine singer Nicki Nicole back in November 2025.
As for her style? When she's not championing Spain's national red and yellow hues, Inés typically opts for a quiet luxury palette - monochrome colourways, date night silhouettes and cool-girl staples ranging from funnel-neck jackets to star-clad denim. Her accessory collection boasts buttery leather Bottega Veneta Andiamo clutches and diamond-dotted jewellery featuring the initials LY in homage to her talented partner.
