Designer collaborations with high street brands are fashion's ultimate sweet spot. You can get your hands on a luxe design without having to have an argument with your bank manager. Sounds pretty good to me!
From queues around the block to websites that crash within minutes of the launch, these (seriously) limited-edition collections tap into exclusivity, nostalgia and accessibility all at once. No wonder they get people all hot and bothered.
One of the most talked about launches of the year was the Victoria Beckham partnership with Gap. The 38-piece capsule collection was the perfect marriage between the designer's love for slick tailoring and Gap's practicality. Here in the H! Fashion office we were glued to our laptops to try and secure a piece or two (don't tell our boss), including the incredible cargo trousers.
And believe it or not - there are still a few items in stock, so once you've finished this delightful article - head on over with our blessing!
Meanwhile, Stella McCartney has teamed up again with H&M more than 20 years after her first collection with the high street giant. The 2026 collaboration has a heavy focus on sustainability - a priority for the designer - utilising recycled fabrics and vegan materials. Most pieces are sold out with fashionistas queueing round the block to get their mitts on diamanté-encrusted bodysuits and oversized blazers.
Zac Posen was another designer to join forces with GapStudio - Exhibit A, Kendall Jenner sporting a dress from the collaboration, to the biggest night in fashion - the Met Gala. Meanwhile, on the other end of the red carpet, Bad Bunny was strutting his stuff in Zara, after wearing a look by the beloved Spanish brand for his Super Bowl performance too. The lines between luxury and affordability have become increasingly blurred.
Other notable collaborations include Melissa shoes x Susan Fang - dreamy jelly shoes you'll want to wear all summer and Uniqlo's sterling work with J.W. Anderson (we're very excited for the Cecilie Bahnsen collab coming 18th May too.)
What makes designer collaborations so covetable is their scarcity. They feel collectable and fleeting simultaneously - a rare and special chance to own designer fashion before it disappears forever. They combine aspiration with much-needed accessibility. If you could never afford something from Stella McCartney's main line, this is the next best thing. Oh, the thrill!
Plus, the exclusivity of owning one of the covetable pieces is a brilliant feeling. Don't tell my husband, but the Magda Butrym collection for H&M saw me dropping more money than I'd care to admit on dresses, skirts and crochet headscarves as I adore the designer, but could never purchase something from them directly.
If you didn't manage to get your mitts on your favourite pieces, check out eBay and Vinted for resellers, but beware, as sellers often hike up the prices in line with the outrageous demand.
So we've done the hard work for you and rounded up the best pieces from the greatest designer collaborations you are (currently) still in stock.
But run, don't walk!
