When I think of Kurt Geiger, one word springs to mind: fun. Since opening its first store on London’s Bond Street in 1963, the label has been fine tuning the art of dopamine dressing, subsequently turning vibrant colour and maximalist details into its signature.
And while the British weather is currently doing absolutely nothing for my serotonin levels, the brand’s new collection – aptly named Kurt’s Cabana – definitely is. In my opinion, the Kurt’s Cabana collection takes a slightly surreal approach to the classic English summer aesthetic, nodding to pristine tennis courts and old-school country club codes without losing sight of the accessible luxury label’s flamboyant seal.
Naturally, accessories steal the spotlight; exactly what we’d expect from Kurt Geiger. The brand’s iconic Kensington bag has been reworked with punchy stripes, fringe trims and rope accents, while a new offering of oversized totes in vinyl, stripey and block colourways are demanding my attention for beach trips.
The ready-to-wear collection feels like permission to approach fashion with unapologetic joy: expressive, escapist and a little theatrical, while still looking eminently chic.
