Last week, I was invited to a vintage designer bridal pop-up in West London. Am I getting married anytime soon? Absolutely not. Did I go? Duh.
Ceasing to exist and ascending into archival heaven is the only situation I can liken to stepping foot in that room. Regency-inspired David Fielden gowns were nestled alongside Bruce Oldfield showstoppers, sequinned Sixties showgirl frocks and vintage Galliano mini numbers - all up for grabs for style-savvy brides-to-be.
While I immediately gravitated towards the beaded midis and flirtatious thigh-skimmers courtesy of brands such as Chloé, Jenny Packham and Monique Lhuillier, the pop-up’s curator had other plans. She coolly thrust a Saint Laurent autumn/winter 2011 jumpsuit into my hands to try on, reassuring me it would work.
Having never been one for jumpsuits (why do they always make you feel so frumpy?) I was hesitant. But she was right, and I felt rather fabulous in the rare backless piece. Now, I am totally and utterly wedded to the idea of the bridal jumpsuit (pun fully intended.)
Bridal jumpsuits are the perfect alternative to brides wanting to stay clear of the classic cupcake gown. Sleek, sensual and steeped in Seventies disco fever, the one pieces are a playful wedding day statement - that can be reworn for a myriad of events following the big day.
Take it from the top designers around town - jumpsuits are as versatile as they are glamorous. Spring/summer 2026 is set to be a big season for the silhouette, with brands such as Zimmermann funnelling white options down the runway. Likewise, Akris championed tailored silhouettes with cropped trouser legs and low-slung belts, making for a nonchalant, androgynous aesthetic.
Dior leaned into ghostly vibes, with Maria Grazia Chuiri conjuring up silky hooded renditions for the demure bride to glean inspiration from. Contrarily, The Attico amped up the whimsy, cladding models in sheer, lace catsuits that cut off into Y2K capri pants.
Bridal jumpsuits are very much here to stay. Shop our favourites below.
