Nicolas Cage, 62, is facing a major disaster at his private home in Malibu as a massive sinkhole has opened up outside of his property. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, and photos show that part of the actor's driveway has been swallowed by the sinkhole.

A portaloo appears to have been a casualty of the sinkhole, suggesting that Nicolas was currently renovating the home, but it is unclear if anyone was at the address at the time of the disaster.

The NY Post reports that Nicolas' home is worth a dazzling $10.5 million.

This situation is believed to be linked to Tropical Storm Marie, which has wreaked havoc on the area, including dangerous high tides and flooding. Gas services were shut down in the affected area as a precaution.

Official warning in place in Malibu

The City of Malibu has issued a warning to residents following the incident. It read: "Conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen as the result of a sinkhole on Sea Level Drive…. The sinkhole poses imminent danger to the homes and residents along Sea Level Drive. As of the time of this proclamation, seven residences have been red-tagged due to hazardous conditions resulting from the sinkhole, and an additional 24 residences will be red-tagged due to the loss of safe vehicular access."

It remains unclear how long an emergency evacuation order will last and despite Malibu weather improving, there are still high tide and high wave risks.

Nicolas spent $3 million on a Bahamian island in 2006. Leaf Cay, as it is named, is 30 acres in size and highlights include three postcard-worthy sand beaches and deep waters ideal for harboring yachts.

The star bought the island via the company Vladi Private Islands that arranges the sale of islands to millionaires, and in 2021 it hit the market again. The island was then bizarrely snapped up by a famous dog!

The canine star at the centre of the Netflix documentary, Gunther's Millions, who inherited German countess Karlotta Liebenstein's fortune, is reportedly the new owner of the property. He is in the care of Italian tycoon Maurizio Mian.

The 62-year-old has been married five times and he wed Riko Shibata, 31, in 2021 and they welcomed their daughter August Francesca into the world a year after they tied the knot. The actor is also a father to two sons, Weston Cage Coppola, born in 1990, Weston and Kal-El Cage, born in 2005.
