Princess Madeleine has resumed her commitments as a member of Sweden’s Royal Family after her earlier-than-expected return from London, where she had lived for several months. The princess, along with her parents, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and her siblings, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip, attended the 2002 Swedish Sports Awards on Monday night in Stockholm.

Madeleine, currently in the running for hellomagazine.com’s Most Elegant Woman of 2001, had not expected to be in the Swedish capital for the event as she had relocated to Britain in October. However, after spending the festive period in Sweden, the princess decided not to return to London, due to intense media attention during her stay in the UK.

Because she had intended to remain away from home until the summer of 2002, the 19-year-old beauty is now considering new plans for the future. In the meantime, she is expected to accompany her parents to a number of royal occasions in the upcoming months.
