Michelle and Barack to spend vacation at $20 million property on Martha's Vineyard

America's first family are gearing up for their summer vacation – which they'll be spending at a rented $20 million farmhouse on the exclusive island of Martha's Vineyard, off the south of Cape Cod in New England. During the last week of August, Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and their children Malia and Sasha will stay at the Blue Heron Farm, a 28-acre private compound with a beach, pool and basement cinema.

It's located in the western resort of Chilmark, which in 2007 was recorded as America's most expensive small town in which to purchase property. The farm, which costs up to $50,000 a week to rent, will suit the sports-loving American leader down to the ground as it also boasts a golf practice tee and a basketball court.

Michelle and her daughters might jet in ahead of Mr Obama and stay with friends elsewhere on the island until he arrives. And the recent addition to the family - their new dog Bo - is also reportedly going.

"They've spent vacation time at Martha's Vineyard before and are looking forward to relaxing together as a family at the end of a very busy summer," said a White House spokesperson. The exclusive island - a summer retreat for the wealthy - has become popular with past presidential families over the years.

The Kennedys have a house there and Bill and Hilary Clinton are regular visitors.
