His Majesty King Charles III is now home from his Caribbean tour, where he visited the Bahamas and Guyana as well as Antigua and Barbuda. While in Guyana, the monarch attended the Global Biodiversity Alliance Conference in Georgetown, and there was one moment when he dismissed a blatant attempt at flattery from the President.
While His Majesty was touring the exhibits at the conference, one of the stalls had a screen showing pictures, and one showed Charles during his 2000 trip to the country.
"Who is that young man in the magazine?" the President of Guyana chimed in, adding: "Handsome-looking young man back in the day."
With no response to his comments, he placed his hand on the King's shoulder and affirmed: "You have not changed much at all." The monarch then turned around and simply replied: "Keep trying."

The last time Charles was in Georgetown was 26 years ago, when he was a Prince; he visited urban community projects, and he conducted a walkabout in Albouystown.
During his time in the country, he also visited Kaieteur Falls and travelled deep into the Iwokrama Rainforest.
Why was King Charles in Guyana solo?
His Majesty completed the first two legs of his Caribbean tour solo, with his wife Queen Camilla joining in for the final part, in Antigua and Barbuda. This was always the plan, but the palace has not confirmed why Camilla was absent for the first half. It could well be down to the Queen's dislike for flying, as just travelling to one country would cut the need for multiple flights, allowing her to only travel in and out.
In the past, it has been well documented that Camilla has a nervousness around flying, and this could well be the reason for her shortened trip.
Royal Editor Emily Nash also pointed out that the tiring nature of touring could be to blame. Speaking on HELLO!'s A Right Royal Podcast, she explained: "We know she's going to be 77 next year. She doesn't love long-haul travel. She, I think, finds being out in the heat all day quite draining, and it's tough for most people who are out working in the early 30 degrees all day long. So, she's going to come later, but she will be at his side for the big events at CHOGM. She's got quite a few engagements of her own as well."
