As many stars have discovered, being bank rolled by the movie industry means that the world is their oyster when it comes to choosing a romantic environment in which to wine and dine a partner. You don't always have to be a big screen name to do so, however. From breakfast in the bush to a candlelit dinner on your own private island, here we’ve tracked down the most appetising destinations in which to enjoy romantic meals à deux...

Bermudian island idyll

Discover your inner Robinson Crusoe with a candlelit dinner for two on an islet off the enchanting Caribbean destination of Bermuda. It’s a five-minute boat trip from the secluded Cambridge Beaches resort with a butler at the helm. And once the champagne is poured and thesumptuous banquet served, boat and butler will sail off into the night – until summoned for the return. Just let the bubbles fizz, wiggle your toes in the sand and gaze up at the stars. The resort, a romantic haven set among palm trees, multicoloured hibiscus and pink oleanders, prides itself on its personal service. It’s not difficult to see why Mark Twain wrote: “You go to heaven if you want to, I’d rather stay inBermuda.” He was captivated by the island’s charm. You will be too.

Dawn magic in Kenya

For the ultimate breakfast in the bush, book a safari break in east Africa. You set out in your 4x4 vehicle while it’s still dark to watch the sun rise over the Masai Mara. It’s a spectacular sight as the curtain rises on thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle grazing the grassy savannah of one of Africa’s largest and most beautiful game parks. Against this stunning backdrop, you breakfast on buck’s fizz and bacon and eggs, served on fine porcelain and white tablecloths. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the animal migration, the mass exodus of more than a million wildebeest heading for a new salad bowl, the lush green pastures over the Mara river. Meanwhile, predators such as lions, leopards and crocodiles lie in wait for a banquetof their own. As an extra treat, if the weather is right, you can soar aloft in a hot-air balloon to get a bird’s-eye view of the morning’s action.
